Last weekend I attended a great Internet Marketing seminar in Bristol.  I came away buzzing and full of enthusiasm and ideas.  I also met some great people.  Some of them were already very successful, some were on the way and some were just at the beginning of their journey.  If you ever get a chance to attend one of Robert’s events (he holds them every year), then I strongly recommend it.

One of the hardest the things to do when you’re starting out is to maintain a posistive mindset, especially if you’ve been trying for a while without success or if you are feeling overwhelmed with all the information that you’re trying to get your head around.  When you meet other people that have been through the same experience as you but have made it, it really lifts the spirits and reinforces your belief in what is possible.

They’re  all decent guys and they all have a story that started out very similar to your own.

If you’re already experiencing some success, an event like this gives you a chance to network and meet other success stories.  You’ll always learn something new and many lifetime friendships are often formed.   Robert’s event is also quite intimate and you will get a chance to meet everyone should you so wish.

That said, I want to talk briefly about a topic that Sterling Valentine discussed.  There are only 3 things that really matter when you start out trying to make money online.

  1. You need people (targeted traffic)
  2. A way to capture that traffic (squeeze page and a free product)
  3. A way to convert your traffic into sales (e-mail marketing to your list of prospects)

If you have none of the above, and you are not making money, then you need to ask yourself how you are spending your days.

This is the basics.   This is what you should focus on in the beginning.  When you start every day, make sure that these activities are your most important tasks.  Get this right and you will make money.

Don’t work on getting the wrong things perfect.  Just make sure that you start out by focusing on these three areas alone.   Great advice from Sterling who is himself a great guy!
